Mokah
|
|
Mokah is what they would call an American Red pit bull. Ain't she a cutie?! I went to Grand Island, NE to rescue a pit bull pup to transport him to his new foster home in Missouri when this little cutie was being brought in to the shelter.
Supposedly, the people who brought her in discovered her at their sons vacant house and decided they didn't want her. Unfortunately, they were liars.
This little cutie was theirs and she was in bad shape, not to mention robbed of vital nutrients (she should be much bigger, yet she will get no bigger than what a 4-5 month old pup is) and bad breathing conditions.
The rescue couldn't keep her but I couldn't take her at that very moment either due to her breathing infection so I used their phone and made arrangements to have her taken to Missouri as well.
Wouldn't you know I fell in love with her immediately despite the loss of my angel, Kloe. This dog to me was in ways a sign. In some way I feel like Kloe sent her to me. Anyway, I decided to keep her myself instead of adopting her out.
She has definitely brought happiness back in my life... cant imagine her not being around. Shes still just as cute in the pics as she is now. I love my Mokie Chops!!

Charlotte
|
|
Charlotte was another one of my pit rescues. She was in some small town in IA, about 4 hrs away from me. I drove in a snowstorm to get her (yup, I was *that* determined!).
Anyway, the ACO (Animal Control Officer) who contacted me said she found her wandering around loose... after going through other people to find out the background on her, it turned out the owner had actually surrendered her due to her being aggressive towards other dogs (a common trait in a pit bull).
I had her for one day before the ACO came up to my house with a man who had wanted to adopt her, he passed the test and checked out! Great news for Charlotte for quicky finding her forever home!

Its The Pits (altogether)

Pics of Kloe, Junior and Princess....
Having 3 pits altogether like this shouldn't be done unless you know how your dogs will be around one another. Normally and for the novice owner you should keep it down to one dog. If you decide on two make sure it is one male & one female. One should be dominant, the other submissive-- if not trust me when I say you will have problems.

Gabriel

Gabriel...
This is the pit I was in Grand Island, NE to originally rescue when Mokah came into the picture.
Whoever did this to this sweet pup did plenty of damage. As you can see they 'attempted' to crop his ears most likely using razors or scissors and botching things up quite bad.
Poor Gabriel probably also endured this trying incident with no form of pain reliever. Most the times the people who decide to do a home crop job hold the dog down as it fights to break free or tie it up while it cries out in pain.
Gabriel's ears were badly infected and most likely why his owners dumped him on the shelters doorstep. I took him in and had him with me for 2wks before transporting him to his foster home in Missouri with Melissa (a fellow rescuer). She immediately fell in love with him. I think her pit, Savannah got quite jealous, .
Sadly, Gabriel had to be humanely put to sleep as he attacked his newer foster home and wouldn't have been a good candidate, his previous humans did more damage than they could ever know. : (
RIP Gabriel.

Zoe

Zoe...
She too, was one of my rescues. She came from a small town in the western part of NE. The lady's son found her and contacted me. They wanted to keep her but the husband wouldn't allow it. Its a shame because Zoe and the boy had bonded immensely and he had taken his allowance to buy her food, a leash, collar, etc from the pet store. He's great, isn't he? : )
They drove to me so he could spend some quality time with Zoe before I took her. She spent about 3 weeks with me before starting on her long journey to her new foster home. I drove her to Nebraska City, NE where fellow rescuers took her to Missouri (I work with the Missouri group, a lot).
Zoe stayed with her foster family for about 2 wks before a Nurse saw her on the adoption site and fell in love with her... she found her forever home. The rest as they say, is history!

Dozer & Savannah
|
|
Dozer & Savannah belong to Melissa, a fellow rescuer in Missouri that I often work with.
Dozer was her (Mel's) life. She rescued him from an abusive situation and had him for quite some time, unfortunetly the damage done to him from his previous owners were ones that he could not overcome despite Mel's care to him 24/7. She humanely put him down. He will definetly be missed. : /
Savannah, Mel's other pittie is nothing more than a big lap dog. She loves to smother you in kisses and of course *loves* having her tummy rubbed ; ) I think she too, also took a liking to Gabriel.

My wonderful boyfriend, Anthony. We met on ICQ (of all places, eh?!) and just became good friends over the past year. He's my bestfriend.
I knew from the first night we talked that he was special and it was all I could do to not tell because I feared Id scare him away.
Instead, we became closer and closer and Id often write in my diary about how much I was falling for him (little did I know he read it daily, ). With some coaxing from his friend who read my diary and saw 'how bad' I had it for him, did he ask me to be his gurl. I prolly had the biggest smile in all the world on my face right than and eagerly accepted. That was in August '03.
Now, here we are May '04 and this month we will have been together for 9 months. I cant believe how quickly it has gone. Being in a long distance relationship has not been easy. Weve definetly had our highs and lows but through it all weve made it work and have become stronger.
Soon, all our hard work will finally pay off and we'll be starting a new chapter in our lives, TOGETHER. I cant wait! Im so excited to finally be with my other half.
I really have no idea what I would do without you, my love. You are my everything. Your my air, without you I dont exist.
Love you
Always & Forever...
Buggie
